The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Town Solicitor / Manager, Legal and Court Services, this role is responsible for the management of all realty functions of the Corporation including appraisal, acquisition, leasing and disposal of real property. You will have overall responsibility for business process development and implementation of the realty services team and budget, ensuring appropriate levels of service are maintained for all stakeholders. You will also be responsible for for providing corporate mediation, facilitation and problem-solving services related to real property, and manage corporate/strategic issues, as required. As the Supervisor, Realty Services, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Manage, negotiate and prepare agreements related to commercial leases and rent for municipal properties
  • Act as a mediator and liaison with property owners, developers, builders, town departments and members of Council on real estate matters
  • Demonstrate visible and positive leadership to staff, developing and nurturing a work environment that is inclusive, respectful and motivating for staff including career development, performance management, staff engagement, rewards and recognition
  • Prepare and manage the budget for realty services, including appraisals and other realty related costs, revenue and training
  • Draft policies and procedures relating to real estate procedures and administrative tasks

COVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Supervisor, Realty Services will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with education, training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a Degree in Real Estate, Geography, Business, Urban Planning or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has designation in good standing as a Senior Right of Way Agent (SR/WA) or Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) and eligibility for a Membership with the Institute of Municipal Assessors, Appraisal Institute of Canada or the Right of Way Association.

Our ideal candidate will have 5 years related experience in real estate appraisal and negotiations, including administration. Minimum 2 years of management experience and experience in a government organization are assets.

The ideal candidate will have superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment. We are seeking an individual with innovative and creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to think critically and with precision in high-pressure situations. As well as demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and MLS, GeoWarehouse, MarshNet, and RealNet.

This position offers a salary range of $87,033.66 – $102,274.76 plus a competitive benefit package.
